At The Sanctuary by Classic Featherlite, landscape was envisioned not merely as an open space, but as the defining experience of the development. Spread across 50 acres in Gunjur, Bengaluru, this plotted community presented us with a unique opportunity: a long stretch of land located opposite the residential plots, directly visible from the main road, waiting to be transformed into a memorable green frontage.

From our perspective as landscape architects, this site became a canvas, a space to be carefully composed with planting, movement, activity, and moments of pause. The challenge lay in the site’s linear form. While its elongated shape naturally supported circulation, it also risked making the journey feel disconnected, with the beginning and end too far apart to create a unified experience. Our design response was to introduce an unconventional yet simple planning approach, where the movement through the landscape becomes the experience itself.

We structured the space as a sequence of curated pause points and activity zones that unfold along the pathway, keeping the user constantly engaged. Features such as the surprise fountain, cricket pitch, table tennis area, board games for children, serpentine seating, foot reflexology path, and party lawn were thoughtfully positioned to create rhythm, interaction, and delight. As one moves through the site, these elements are woven together by lush softscape, creating a continuous and immersive landscape journey.

The entrance arches further strengthen this identity, framing the arrival experience and bringing together hardscape and softscape in a harmonious composition. The result is a landscape that is elegant, inviting, and highly experiential—one that not only enhances the value of the plotted development, but also creates a strong visual and emotional connection between the residents and the open space that fronts their community.
