Casagrand Suncity

At Casagrand Suncity, we envisioned the landscape as the soul of one of Chennai’s most ambitious residential developments. Spread across 45 acres and anchored by seven G+32 residential towers, the project called for a landscape of equal scale, identity, and richness. The design brief drew from a Roman theme, with the aspiration to create a grand, iconic, and memorable environment. Our response was to shape a residential realm that feels royal, immersive, and distinctly experiential.

From the outset, our approach was to create an orchestrated landscape where space weaves, folds, and gradually reveals itself, turning everyday movement into discovery. Signature elements such as the ornamented cast-iron dome, grand swimming pool, and arched cabanas establish the Roman character of the campus, while the central green emerges as its defining highlight. Rather than functioning as a static open space, this landscape is designed as a living public realm—visually dramatic, socially active, and deeply connected to the life of the community.

At the heart of the design is the idea of a landscape that encourages residents to step outdoors, interact, reflect, and reconnect with nature. As one enters, the main garden bowl unfolds in layers, revealing itself part by part and drawing people into a series of social, recreational, and contemplative experiences. This central space performs multiple roles at once: it becomes a circulation spine, a visual anchor, a buffer for privacy, and a framework that gives the project its volumetric and spatial richness. The result is an open environment that feels generous, uplifting, and full of possibility.

A key design intention was to ensure that the landscape remains engaging over time. The network of multiple loops and pathways creates varied routes, changing perspectives, and countless combinations of movement, allowing residents to experience the gardens differently with each visit. This dynamic planning breaks monotony and introduces moments of surprise, excitement, calmness, amusement, and serenity. Every path offers a different encounter, and every garden holds a different mood, making the landscape an evolving experience rather than a fixed setting.

For us as landscape architects, Casagrand Suncity is about more than grandeur—it is about creating a meaningful relationship between people, space, and nature. The landscape is wide, open, and celebratory, yet carefully curated to support everyday life. It is a place where architecture and landscape come together to create a public realm that is elegant, expressive, and lasting in its impact.
