At Casagrand South Brooke Phase 1, our landscape approach was shaped by a clear challenge: to create a high-quality residential environment for an affordable housing segment within a highly constrained construction budget. As a mid-rise residential development spread across 15 acres, the project demanded a design response that was efficient, practical, and easy to execute—without compromising the experience, comfort, and long-term value of the open spaces.

Our strategy was rooted in simplicity, clarity, and performance. We worked with a restrained palette of materials and straightforward construction methods, carefully using each element to deliver maximum impact. The focus was on crafting landscape spaces that feel complete, welcoming, and purposeful, proving that thoughtful design can elevate even budget-sensitive developments. Each amenity was shaped with a strong sense of enclosure and usability, creating spaces that feel secure, intimate, and well-defined for everyday community life.

A key highlight of the project is the multi-use play courts, designed as vibrant and active social anchors within the campus. Through bold colour patterns and flexible planning, these spaces bring energy, freshness, and visual identity to the development while accommodating multiple games and age groups. They serve not only as recreational amenities, but also as spaces that encourage interaction, activity, and a strong sense of community.

Equally important were the courtyards between the residential blocks. Although these spaces were narrow and spatially tight, they offered an opportunity to create highly accessible and functional community pockets. We carefully composed these in-between landscapes to include the maximum possible amenities while balancing safety, privacy, and acoustic comfort for the surrounding apartments. Every intervention was planned with sensitivity to how residents would use the spaces daily, ensuring that the courtyards remain active yet comfortable and well-buffered from the homes above and beside them.

One of the most significant design outcomes of the project was the enhancement of the ground-floor units. These units are often difficult to market in apartment developments due to concerns around privacy and exposure. At South Brooke, we addressed this through strategic landscape buffers, planting, and spatial planning that improved privacy while also making the units more attractive and livable. In doing so, we created an edge condition that supports senior citizens, promotes universal accessibility, and adds real value to the homes. As a result, the ground-floor residences became some of the most desirable units in the project—demonstrating the power of landscape to directly influence both quality of life and market success.
At its core, Casagrand South Brooke Phase 1 is an example of how landscape design can transform a budget-conscious development into a thoughtful, functional, and people-centric.
